If you’re looking for great LA hiking spots without driving all over the city, you could hit several right along the Gold Line route. With recent expansion, the Metro’s Gold Line is more more than 30 miles long, some of which follows the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, offering jump off points for hikers.

Free shuttle to Chantry Flats for a limited time

For three weekends this fall, a free shuttle will ferry riders from the Gold Line station in Arcadia to the trailhead at Chantry Flats Picnic Area, giving hikers access to a popular spot that leads into high-traffic San Gabriel Mountain trails such as Sturtevant Falls and Mount Wilson.

According to an article in LA Curbed, shuttle service from Arcadia begins the weekend of Sept. 24-25 and continues Oct. 1-2 and October 8-9.

The first shuttle departs at 7 a.m. from the Arcadia station at Santa Clara and 1st Street. The last shuttle from Chantry leaves the picnic area at 4 p.m.
