Deviled EggsToday is National Devils Egg Day!

 

I almost laughed out loud when I read that today was National Devils Egg Day! It seems National Day has gotten out of hand. Good grief! Before you know it, it could be National Sussie Sutton Day! Now that would be grand!

 

We all know that Deviled Eggs are a main staple in any potluck, holiday, family reunion, or family get together. This party mainstay is so popular that dish trays have been designed to carry the tiny morsels of pure goodness.

 

Be sure to cook up a batch with tonight dinner just because they are so good to eat. I am going to make some today and I don't see these hors' d'oeuvres going any where but on my table and eventually in my tummy.

I haven't made deviled eggs in years, mostly because Rich doesn't like them. However, when I find them at a potluck, you can be sure one goes directly in my mouth and then several more on my plate!

I make them but they hardly touch the plate! They are eaten as fast as I can spoon the filling into them.

I love making these for dinners and to take to parties. I have a pastry decorator that I use to make the yolk filling look attractive. I top with a little paprika and they are delicious. I made some last week in fact.

This was one explination I found on line, "The first known printed mention of ‘devil’ as a culinary term appeared in Great Britain in 1786, in reference to dishes including hot ingredients or those that were highly seasoned and broiled or fried."
