Family Christmas Gatherings 2016 and Taking Photos

This has not been my season to take photos... don't ask me why because I really do not know.  I've had several family and company gatherings that I just did not even think about photos until the event was over.  That's not like me at all.

BUT I have been going through hundreds if not thousands of photos that I have taken and have stored on 3 different computers, sd cards, smugmug, flickr, etc.. and picking out photos to use for projects this Christmas so maybe I am just in "photo overload" if there is such a thing.

Ever since we started using digital cameras, I have been saying that we should take lots and lots of photos because there is no development cost.  The funny thing is that I hate to delete photos once I've taken them though.. even though there may be 3 or 4 variations of basically the same people in the same shot, just slightly different.  Truly I am trying to do better at deleting all but the best one or the  one that I like best.  It's a matter of survival.  I am covered up in photos.  It's similar to clutter...  when you have 3 blenders in your kitchen and exactly how many cookie sheets do I need??

Decluttering my digital images will be a life saver and will also get me excited about taking  photos again.. given that I don't have so many that I have to decide where I am going to store them.

No photo or image in this post either.. I really am  in photo overload!

I know what you mean, it's so time-consuming to go through all the photos.

Judi, I used to carry my camera with me everywhere. Now it's down to my phone and many times I just don't bother. I have thousands of photos on my computer and on an external hard drive I need to finish going through. Ugh...

I know exactly what you mean!

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you!

Judi K Barrett - Is it any consolation to you to know, you're not alone! I've acquired quite a collection of photos on scan disks that I can't delete. It takes time to sort through then all and I'm working on that project now.

Good luck! Also, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I took on having blankets printed with photos for each family, putting photos on sd cards and giving with digital cameras, having some coffee mugs printed...   it becomes so time consuming to pick out the "right" photo!

Judi, this is so unlike you, I remember when you used to post a lot of pictures on AR... and I do  not recall ever having a post without pictures:)) Well anyway miss the interaction we had years ago... wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year if we do not connect before. Endre

I know! :)  AR used to be a large part of my weekly outreach..  It's a much smaller part now.  I do miss the connections.  Thanks for stopping by!

yesterday I went through all the photos on my Mac, many which were real estate photos, and a few that were when you accidently hit shoot. It was nice to get rid of unessentials.

The nice thing about digital photos and documents is that storage space is very inexpensive, much less expensive than the time that it takes to sort and delete.

Merry Christmas!
