Friends have been raving about the MN Home Outlet in Burnsville. They claim that you can find anything/everything at discounted prices. When someone says ‘everything,’ I never know what that means. It’s billed as a Home Improvement Bargain Store, or the Handyman’s Candy Store. Their website said that they’ve been in business since 2014, but who knew? I decided to take a look for myself.
My GPS couldn’t find the address, kept leading me to a parking lot on the wrong side of Burnsville. Eventually I found it, 2300 E Hwy 13 is on the west side of 35W next to Menards. The entry is unimposing, and doesn’t give you a clue that there is a massive warehouse behind it.
They probably don’t have everything, but there is a lot. Their website lists categories, and doesn’t even attempt to show all the inventory. (www.mnhomeoutlet.com) since they buy ends, returns, and lots, it changes all the time. Starting with A for Automotive, B for Baby, E for Electronics, it goes on and on.
What you can expect: lots of inventory at reduced prices. I saw both hard wood flooring and tiles at incredibly low prices. Large flat screen TVs at great pricing. An electric mower that looks like the front end of a race car at $299, rows of mowers all the way to big riding mowers. Tools, lighting, patio furniture, storage lockers, bathroom vanities, a few kitchen cabinets, toilets, and a whole bunch of miscellaneous.
What you can’t expect: Home Depot, great lighting, help in finding that needle in the haystack. Inventory is separated into categories in aisles. The end of the lighting aisle the woman next to me remarked, “They sure could use a light bulb down here.” It was in Lighting, there were thousands of light bulbs, none overhead. Small items are stacked, you will have to dig. If you see it, want it, grab it, and buy it. It will not be there for you to come back tomorrow. You may not find everything, but there is a wide array of bargains just waiting for hearty hunters.
