Celebrating the 4th at
Ala Moana Beach Park
On O‘ahu, Ala Moana Beach Park is the destination to find oneself for the 4th of July festivities. In Honolulu, locals and tourists alike descend upon the beach park for a leisurely afternoon at the beach and an evening fireworks display that really delivers a pyroclastic pow!
The fireworks display is a well produced spectacle worth the trip and a fun time for all except for the gnarly traffic that congests the streets surrounding the Kaka'ako waterfront. One suggestion that helps alleviate the stress is parking at the Hawaii Convention Center and making your way to Magic Island the best viewing spot for the event. It's a relatively easy stroll from the convention center to the Magic Island peninsula for an abled bodied adult, however, small children and the elderly may need assistance.
Beginning around 8:30 p.m., fireworks light up the tropical night sky, drawing thousands. Many locals cringe at the parking situation, but the convention center is a better place to park if you don't want the drive out traffic congestion.
