There are a lot of bike trails in Bergen County. When it comes to getting out and biking with your family during the summer months you may be wondering which one is right for you. In Bergen County, there are trails that offer scenic views and some that are more challenging.  Some are situated near parks or playgrounds and some are even paved.  Here are our top 5 recommended bike trails in Bergen County for your family to enjoy this summer.

Ramsey Trolley Bike Path

Great for younger kids, this bike trail is only about 0.8 miles and is paved. This trail is training wheel-friendly.  You will find that this bike trail will go directly through the center of town. At one time it was an old rail trail that ran through Ramsey.

Ridge Road Bike Path

A long, yet nice path is the Ridge Road Bike Path that extends from Mahwah to Ramsey and it is 1.62-miles long.  There are some decent sized hills and it is also used a lot as a walking path. The path will take you past the Mahwah library.

Saddle River County Park

This six-mile bike path crosses through six Bergen County towns and is also referred to as the Wild Duck Pond course. This path is family-friendly and an easy ride for beginners. The path starts in Ridgewood at the duck pond and travels along the river.

Franklin Lakes

At Franklin Lakes you will find some scenic paths to bike. There are three shorter paths and you will find that they are windy and take you through the woods - but don’t worry they are paved.  Lots of tree coverage provides for shade and is perfect for those hotter summer days.

Ramapo Reservation

If you prefer mountain biking there are quite a few opportunities available in Bergen County.  Ramapo Reservation in Mahwah is ideal for those looking to mountain bike.  There are a wide variety of multi use trails you will find are suitable for mountain biking and hiking.
