Being in the path of totality means that we will see all of our homes in Summerville go completely dark starting around 2:45 pm and lasting for 2 mins and 3 seconds. At an event this historic, it is fun to be with others and enjoy the community of being together at such a historic event. Here are some of the free events/ gatherings happening around Summerville & Charleston to celebrate the Great Solar Eclipse of 2017.

Where to View Solar Eclipse in Summerville & Charleston, SC

 

Isle of Palms: Come on out to the beach with the kids for live entertainment and musical performances from DJ Natty Heavy & Plane Jane.

Time: 11:30 am-4:30pm

Place: Front Beach, 1300 Ocean Blvd.

Blue Pearl Farms: This family farm lies directly in the path and they are inviting everyone to pack up chairs, blankets and viewing glasses and head on up to McClellanville for live music and entertainment. Food & Refreshments will be sold.

Folly Beach: If you live on Folly Beach, head over to Pier 101 for free viewing glasses and live music by Band of Brothers. 843-633-0246

Downtown Charleston Local Expert Gathering: A group of local Charleston experts and enthusiasts will be gathering at the Charlotte Street Park with solar filtered telescopes to view the eclipse. Talk with locals and learn more about the night sky during this historic event.

Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina: Come enjoy a midday party at the Beach Club. Live performance by the Dubplats, cocktails and kids activities in a Children's area.

Citadel Mall:  The Citadel Mall hosts an eclipse viewing party featuring kid’s activities, food trucks, and live entertainment, with all benefits going to Darkness to Light, an organization dedicated to raising awareness of child abuse in Charleston.

North Charleston: Visit the Bend:  North Charleston is hosting an event at The Bend, a 17-acre waterfront spot on the banks of the Ashley River. Live musical performance from Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, a Grammy Award-winning family hip-hop artist, Low Country STEM science projects including a robotics demonstration, and members of Boeing will be there to perform their longest ever trebuchet launch.

Moncks Corner & Mount Pleasant :  Visit with local astronomy buffs to witness the solar eclipse of a lifetime. Experienced members of the group are stationed at Palmetto Islands County Park (Mt. Pleasant) and Old Santee Canal Park (Moncks Corner) with telescopes ready to share an up-close view of the eclipse.
