On October 26, 2017, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide pending contract signed home sales were same as 0.0% to an index of 106.0 in September of 2017 from an index of 106.0 in August of 2017, but down 3.5% to an index of 109.7 from September of 2016.
Pending home sales index in the Northeast climed 1.2% to an index of 94.5 in September of 2017 from August 2017, but declined 2.4% from September of 2016.
Pending home sales index in the Midwest increased 1,4% to an index of 102.9 in September of 2017 from August 2017, but decreased 2.5% from September of 2016.
Pending home sales index in the South dropped 2.3% to an index of 115.9 in September of 2017 from August 2017, and lower 5.0% from September of 2016.
Pending home sales index in the West jumped 1.9% to an index of 102.7 in September of 2017 from August 2017, but fell 4.0% from September of 2016, according to Adam DeSanctis of www.nar.realtor
Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, stated “While most of the country, except for the South, did see minor gains in contract signings last month, activity is falling further behind last year's pace because new listings aren't keeping up with what's being sold.”
