Branding "The Red Baron of Real Estate" Was by a Client
The Branding of the Red Baron of Real Estate was the idea of a client. Yannie was a repeat client and we had done four transactions and about to an offer on the fifth. It was 2007 and I was in search for a brand that would identify myself and separate me from the large numbers of agents that had already done a wonderful job branding their names.
Having been new in the business for 18 months, I was aware my name would not be enough. A "big box" brand would not identify me from others, particularly with my recent entry in the business.
The First Flight of Branding The Red Baron of Real Estate
Yanni returned a fax, (yes, the days of the fax) with his initials and signatures on the offer. But, the cover page stopped me. Following a year and a half of a brand search, Yanni had inadvertently provided one for me.
On the cover page was a crude drawing of a Tri-Wing, Fokker Dr.I. I called him immediately. "Yanni, why did you put an image of the plane and call me the "Red Baron Realtor?" Simple he said ... "The Red Baron is remembered today because he set himself apart from all other pilots by being the first to use strategy in his aerial warfare and it was always important to him to have the latest in technology at his disposal. You approach your real estate business the same way.
Yanni has discontinued real estate investing, but we stay in contact. He is still amused by the use of his fax page.
