Sister Bay Plans Another Jaw-Dropping Holiday Celebration
We come together the day after Thanksgiving with gratefulness in our hearts for a very special reason. It is once again one of my very favorite times of the year in Door County, and for a very special celebration, including a jaw-dropping light show with thousands of lights brightening our November and December nights. I am truly thankful for this event, which is a wonderful way to bring visitors and locals together to celebrate the season and the thanks in their hearts.
This weekend Sister Bay will hosts its annual "Capture the Spirit" kick-off to the holidays the day after Thanksgiving, and this event just keeps getting better and better each year.
This two day event features the lighting of the Christmas tree (as well as the beginning of the annual lighting show in park next to the Sister Bay Beach) and the entire Village puts on a grand show. This is a family-friendly event for all ages, and truly one of my favorite days of the year in Sister Bay. My family and I LOVE walking downtown through the park with our dogs and really enjoy the festivities that are featured on Friday and Saturday. So warm up your holiday spirit, tune up your caroling voice, bundle up the kids and join all of us the festivities at Sister Bay’s Capture the Spirit event, November 24-25!

This year's festivities include:
November 24 -25th, 2017
Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m. the village lights will glow brightly with the lighting of luminaries around downtown and the Village Christmas tree and decorations at the corner of Mill Road and N. Bay Shore Dr. (Hwy. 42). Light refreshments will be served, donations appreciated.
Santa Claus will bring good tidings and merriment to all with his arrival and as he leads the children to the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library for storytelling and crafts, after the tree lighting.

Each year we gear up for the Annual “Big Bundle Up” with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. When you join us for our tree lighting on Friday at 4:30 p.m. bring new or gently used warm winter clothing items like hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters and coats.
Saturday from 3-5 p.m. bring your sweet tooth, creativity and children to the Holiday Cookie decorating at the Sister Bay Fire Station. The Piggly Wiggly and Sister Bay Advancement Association sponsor these sugary treats.
Friday & Saturday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Shop locally for gifts for your family and friends at the annual Friends of Gibraltar Arts & Crafts Show inside the Sister Bay Village Hall. Lunch served 11:30am-2:30pm. Lunch proceeds support the local Gibraltar Are School programs.
Each year Sister Bay businesses have special sales or offer free holiday treats & refreshments.
At the Kellstrom-Ray Agency (you'll find us here in Sister Bay open Friday and Saturday), wewill feature an in-house agent agent available for questions, hot coffee or tea, plus free Homes & More Guides throughout the weekend. If you have questions regarding any Door County property and you can't make it to Sister Bay this weekend, you can also email me for more information at shumway.mk@gmail.com
Friday will find me at the tree lighting, donating warm clothes at 4 p.m., and then Saturday, between business engagements, I'll shop the specials and enjoy the warmth and camaraderie. The next few weeks are truly some of my favorite as Sister Bay dresses up in its holiday best. I am very thankful for all of the volunteers and for the Village of Sister Bay Crew, as well as the local businesses, for sponsoring this post-Thanksgiving event, where we join together in thanks for the season.
It's almost the biggest shopping day of the year, too. Our next post will feature our own Black Friday Door County PROPERTY SALE, with new and reduced homes, condominiums and vacant land.
