Pierce County Foreclosure Rate 1 in Every 583 Homes

Numbers released earlier this week show that 1 out of every 583 homes in Pierce County are in some state of foreclosure.  This is over a 100% increase from the previous years numbers

Pierce County ranks 2nd. in the state of Washington for the number of foreclosures.

Washingtion state ranks 26th. in the country in foreclosures. Nevada has the highest rate in the country with one out of every 146 households in foreclosure. Vermont is ranked last with zero foreclosures reported.

Scott-You guys don't have it anywhere near as bad as Florida! But then again, this is getting prices down to where people can buy homes again!

Scott, I wonder why Pierce County leads the way. I am also surprised to see WA in the 26th spot.

Katerina- I know we're not as bad as Florida but still it hurts to see this many homes in some stage of foreclosure. It's a really difficult process to live through.

Jo- I think Pierce County has it worse than the other areas due to the number of buyers who bit off more than they could chew as they were encouraged by the media, lenders, agents etc. Our demographics are more 1st. time buyers here than many other areas. I think the 1st. timers were overly optimistic.

Scott that is probably correct and a ton of new construction was the lure I am sure.
