George Joseph Capewell was born in Birmingham, England back in 1843. I don’t know when the family moved to the United States but he was educated in Woodbury, Connecticut. At 15 he was working for Scoville in Waterbury, Connecticut. By the age of 20 he was the Mechanical Superintendent of the Cheshire Manufacturing Company.
In 1870, he founded a business that is still in operation to this day in Bloomfield, Connecticut. It took him 11 years to make a machine to manufacture the finished product, those machines are still producing that product.
