Yesterday my husband, son, and I went out on the river to do the final break-in hour on our son's new boat. Of course we took the dogs...
Chad's dog, Puppy, is used to boats. The two of them go fishing quite often.
Katie was another story. Chad had to pick her up and put her in the boat, and once there, she was nervous. She kept looking at me, my husband, Chad, and Puppy like we "should" know something wasn't quite right here.
We kept telling her not to worry. You can see from the look on her face that we didn't convince her.
For the first hour she only walked around looking for reassurance - getting lots of pets and back-rubs.
But then, the next step in breaking in is to open up the throttle and go fast, and THAT was too much for her.
Before I knew it, I had 85 pounds of dog and fur in my lap, snuggled up as tight as she could get.
Those toenails hanging on to my legs were sure sharp!
Right now I'm not so sure that Katie will have a second boat ride. We'll see...
