I have been here several times over the years, but haven’t come on a girls’ night before and we had a blast! The Flicks is an integral part of Boise’s cultural and arts scene, with long term residents making a Flicks visit part of their weekly routine. Additionally, many newcomers cite the Independent movie theatre as one of their favorite activities in downtown Boise. The Flicks has been voted Best Movie Theatre in Boise numerous times. The Flicks has been recognized with The Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1997, The Elm Award from the gay community as the most supportive, non-gay business in 1991, 1994, 1996 and 2001. President Carole Skinner received United Vision for Idaho's Most Progressive Businessperson of the Year Award in 2002, and was honored in 2009 with the Teevee Award from Idaho’s Public Access Television Station. In 2014 she received a TWIN Award from the WCA. All of this cultural and art relevance, along with my amazing girls’ night at the movies translated into me adding it to the list of Boyles Boise: 52 things to do and see. The Flicks provide a charming atmosphere, including fresh flowers in the restrooms, framed movie posters in the dining room, hanging geraniums and gurgling fountain on the patio. Plus, they are known for their friendly service, where the employees remember if you like your latte with 1% or your Guinness at room temperature, so everything considered makes for a memorable entertainment experience.

About Me I have been living in Idaho for almost my entire life, and the Treasure Valley has been my home for more than 30 years. In addition to constantly exploring the city and all of its activities, I am also very involved in the Treasure Valley’s philanthropy scene and have been working in the Mortgage industry as a Loan Officer for more than 35 years now. Additionally, my husband Michael had a 20+ year career in Real Estate, so if you are new to the area and looking to lay some roots for your family, get involved with some great causes, connect with like-minded people or just explore all that Boise has to offer – don’t hesitate to let me know.
