Robbins house Race St Searcy AR moved updated

This is an unbelievably beautiful home that is now on the market in Searcy AR.  REALTORS toured it this morning and we came away in a state of awe because it is so lovely and so well maintained.  When I noticed that it was on the market my memories came back.  I had done a blog on that particular address because there was a historic home that had been moved to that location from East Race Street within the past 50 years.  Here is the picture from that blog.

Historic Searcy house

The picture for that blog was taken in 2010.  Click here to read the blog.  The house was once located on E Race in Searcy and it was a big moving job to get it to its present location in the country.

The great thing is that the home still stands;  it has been made even more beautiful and the owners appreciate its history.  To see more of the house click here for additional photos.  If you are in the market for a house with history, beauty and distinction, this is it.  It is listed with Dalrymple Residential in Searcy, AR.

I remember them moving this home. I was really young bit I think if my memory is correct it was next to the old Safeway Store. I have not read the blog. Am I correct? That is really all I remember. Why, because at that time I lived near there.

Well, I read the blog. I guess the memory is still good. I remember watching the truck getting it ready to move. I remember thinking as a child that they could not move a house and my father explaining how this could be done.

Tammie, it had to have been a huge job.  I remember it too.  Touring the house yesterday was so interesting because I discovered it has a huge basement.  Now we need to ask your wonderful dad, if he were still alive, how they could move a basement.  Be sure to go look at the other pictures of the house at Realtor.com.

Lee A. Biggs A LITTLE HISTORY

This house was built on the North side of Race Street by Charles Edward Yingling, Sr. & his wife, the parents of Charles Edward Yingling, Jr., longtime Searcy lawyer & Searcy Municipal Court judge, John (Jack) Yingling, & the boys’ l
ittle sister, Martha (Sissy) Yingling. Jack Yingling married the girl across the street & East a couple of houses, Elizabeth Lightle, sister of Ed Lightle, longtime Searcy lawyer. Jack & Elizabeth moved to and spent most of their adult lives living & working in the Washington D.C. area. Bruce Robbins, a Searcy Dentist, & his wife, Jean, lived in the house until it was sold to Safeway Stores. Comer Boyett, a longtime Searcy lawyer bought the house from Safeway for a “song & a dance” and then had it taken apart in multiple sections (roof removed, bricks removed, side porch removed, etc), jacked up, placed on a trailer & moved to its present location in the Searcy Country Club area to be reassemble & remodeled, for Comer and his wife Susie to occupy as their home. There have been additional remodels since that time.

Lee A. Biggs A couple of more photos shortly before the house began moving West on Race Street. It was a big deal that involved AP&L & SW Bell & tree trimmer company involvement to clear the way for the house to be moved to its new location in Searcy Country Club area...
