Homes for Sale in the Janney Elementary School District
If you move into Friendship Heights, American University Park, or Tenleytown, you will be lucky enough to send your kids to Janney Elementary. Janney is a Pre-K through 5th grade school and one of the crown jewels in D.C.’s efforts to attract young families into its’ suburbs.
Why Choose Janney ES?
Not even twenty years ago, many D.C. residents thought they needed to move into Maryland or send their kids to private school when they reached kindergarten age. Not so, and Janney is one of a handful of elementary schools responsible for the shift.
Students at Janney test almost three times higher than the city-wide average, and are rated as making far more progress compared to similar students, according to greatschools.com. This means the school is doing an excellent job supporting their growth at all academic levels. Last year, Janney retained 94% of its’ highly effective teachers.
Janney underwent a massive renovation and modernization, which ended in 2011. The school offers several sports teams and over 20 student clubs, including, newspaper, chess, student government, drama, robotics, sewing, and yoga. Janney has a school garden integrated into the curriculum, and students do hands-on work there learning about nutrition, the environment, and their community.
