Cold Winter Blasts are not Pet Friendly
This article from Sally and David Hanson offers excellent advice on helping our furry friends deal with the cold.
It goes without saying...or should that leaving an animal outside in the winter for any length of time is "cruel and un-animal loving like treatment." Our cats are not interested in the outside and the litter box works as compared to the walks of the neighborhood dogs.
Catching up on neighborhood Facebook groups...I thought I would share a suggestion or two that may well work for other dogs in cold
climates.
First...a "blanketed" area of hay to walk on is far more comfortable than ice, snow or freezing pavement or ground. Here you can find that kind of "ground cover" at pet stores and some more rural stores.
In addition....a trip to the Dollar Store can make that necessary outdoor trip for Fido a lot easier. Go to the sock department...depending on the size of the dog's feet...get a few pairs of infant or children's socks. Then go to the hair accessories and you will find pony tail wraps of all sizes that you will use to secure the newly found fashion statement to the dog's legs.
Looks to be more comfortable than stiff boots...add
as many layers as the temperature requires...easily washed and such a fashion statement...the other dogs in the neighborhood will be jealous !
