St. James is in the Township of Smithtown and is accessible from The Long Island Expressway, Northern State Parkway and Jericho Turnpike. There is a lovely quaint "Main Street" on Lake Avenue, and it is surrounded by plenty of shopping, restaurants and parks. It is also home to The St. James General Store, which is the oldest general store in the United States that is still under operation, unchanged structurally since 1894!
