Hold onto your checkbooks, along with the rising price of fuel, food and natural gas, electricity is now being added to the mix. Westar Energy is now seeking a 15% electric utility raise increase for it's customers, which includes western Olathe and other Kansas City area residents. According to the Kansas City Star, this rate increase could mean an increase in your bill of about $9.62 per month. The rate increase is due to the 2007 ice storm which cost an estimated $69 million and also investment in natural gas plants and renewable wind energy.
