Who is your favorite musical artist?
I was in my teens and 20's in the 1980's and I still think that Eighties music is the best of all time! I love almost anything by Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, U2, Def Leppard, Van Halen, The Cure and so on.....
My favorite current band is Maroon 5. I also love Classical music and country music.
So, since i couldn't narrow it down to my favorite artist, I thought I would post my favorite song. It is a Classical piece by Chopin Etude Opus 10 No. 3.
Who is your favorite artist?
My mother is very artistic and creative. I inherited some of that from her, and so although I am not a talented artist, I am an art lover. Two of my favorite artists are Kevin Macpherson who is a contemporary American artist that lives in Taos, New Mexico, and Joaquin Sorolla an impressionistic Spanish painter from the tun of the 20th Century. This painting on the right is by Sorolla. Impressionistic painting is by far my favorite. I think it is a very expressive style, where the paintings have an emotion or feeling about them, not just a visual representation.
Who is your favorite blogger?
I am so new to the blogging world, but with-in minutes of being on AR, I could tell that there are MANY talented writers here that I can HOPEFULLY learn from. George Tallabas is a dear friend that I have learned so much from on AR and in person. If any of you are not subscribed to his blog you are missing out BIG TIME! Katerina Gasset is another blogger that I have learned much from, and I feel like it will take me years to put it all into use! Kay Frenzer really lives up to her name as the SEO DIVA. Lindsay Pendleton is full of information, and always puts a smile on your face. This list could go on forever......
If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?
Benjamin Franklin has always been one of my favorite historical figures. He was not only a brilliant inventor, but also a very charismatic politician! One of my favorite stories about Ben is that he would always use a wheelbarrow with a squeeky wheel so that people would notice that he was working hard!!! That is such an important concept for us to consider, especially in RE. It's not just enough that we do our job, but we must let our clients know that we did the job!
I would also like to meet Thomas Edison. I am very intrigued with people who are extremely intelligent who have very little formal education. I would like to talk to him about the persistence and faith he had to have to do what he did.
Who has been the person in your life that has had the greatest impact on you?
My mom has always had a profound impact on me. My mom always had a "can do" attitude. I remember when I was growing up we would walk into a store, and my mom would look at an outfit and say "I could make that." It drove me CRAZY! I didn't want her to make it, I wanted her to buy it. That lesson has been invaluable to me in my life. If I see someone doing something, a little voice in my head says "I can do that." even if I don't know how. I guess my rational is that I can figure it out somehow!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be many things. I wanted to be Miss America. I ended up being Miss Meridian 1989 (yes I can actually remember back that far!) and finalist in the Miss Idaho pageant. I wanted to be a model. I did some modeling in my 20's, and that was fun, but I realized that with my gene pool, God hadn't planned for me to be a Super Model. I wanted to be a business woman, and I have 2 successful businesses. Can you tell that I changed my mind a lot! Amongst all my mind changing, one thing that I always wanted to be was a Mom. I got my wish because I have 6 beautiful, smart, funny, talented children ages 15-3.
What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?
I have heard that if you took Idaho, and flattened out all the mountains, it would be bigger than Texas!
If you could do anything what would you do?
I have a goal in my life to give a $1million dollar donation (all in one check) to my Church's Humanitarian Aid Fund that is used to administer humanitarian relief all around the world.
If you could live in any point of history, what would it be and why?
When I look at Joaquin Sorolla's paintings, or read Jane Austin's books, I think living in the Romantic Victorian age would have been wonderful, but only if you were in the priveleged upper class. Then my daughter did a report this year on Victorian Courtship, and I realized how restrictive their society was. I would be banned from society in a heartbeat! So, I guess I had better stay here in the 21st Century where women can speak their mind, and control their own destiny! We have it so good!
What's your favorite game?
Any game I am winning! ; )
What is your biggest missed opportunity?
I am sure there have been MANY but I really don't look backward in regret. If I did, I wouldn't sleep at night!
What is the most interesting job you have ever held?
I really have only had a couple jobs in my life. My most unique job though is I used to paint business windows for the Christmas Holidays. It's very fun as long as the weather is nice.
Now here are 8 rainers I would like to tag:
