Cast off? Not quite yet....

Spring is erupting all around us.   It's a time that makes us restless, just like all the other animals encountering sun and light and warmth.   We want to get up and at it.   Stay home/social distance is still the mantra in my area.

So, yes, in my seaside region, we are all tied up at the dock.   We want to get going, to rush out to open waters where there are no boundaries, no doors, no walls...where we might suddenly find ourselves in the middle of an Orca pod, or come across a sea lion treading water, gazing at horizons...or watch an eagle in his hunt.

Right now, it's time to exercise our imaginations, to remember other voyages, wind in our faces or sails luffing...to remember the pleasures of casting off, leaving the security of the dock behind us, going to explore the whatever.

Right now, with enforced social isolation, it might also be a good time to let ourselves free float a little, to think about other ways to do things when we are finally allowed to "go".   Could be that this pause is actually a gift, for our restless seeking selves?

Hmmm....   And your thoughts are?   Always welcome.

Love your photo and it is interesting how restless we are all getting. Maybe we wouldn't have wanted to travel, but the enforced stay in place situation has caused many of us to want to hit the road to see loved ones, or visit places we have always wanted to see.

Li,

We are blessed to live within walking distance to the beach with a private beach beyond.  We spotted a dolphin today, a seal fishing last week, and all the wonderful sea birds.  The only thing I long for is our favorite breakfast place in the forest...We can duplicate it, but we miss the people that work there.

In the meantime, we are working on several projects and looking forward to a visit to several places.  A

Hi Li- if we were still living in Florida and doing the boating and diving we used to do, we would be more restless. But in our situation now, we can still drive to a nearby preserve to walk so I don't feel as cooped up. I can't wait to be able to go to lunch or dinner with friends and have my family over. (and I'd love to get my roots touched up!!!)

There is still plenty to do in order to stay productive and we all need to be ready when things open back up.

Hello Li, I am so grateful for the Spring weather and the opportunity to garden. We are just listing a 10 acre parcel and are working to get that cleared and photographed. Two listings are contingent upon a couple of other factors before we can get them listed, but we have things in the pipeline and are feeling good.   Hope you are doing well...at least you're surrounded by great natural beauty.

I find your word so comforting. You're like a warm blanket on a chilly day or a dip in cool water when the weather is hot. As I absorb all that's going on around me, you cast off my fears and give me new hope.

With sincere appreciation.
