Walked the north end of Pawleys the other morning, observed the tracks of a sea turtle who had come ashore during the night, laid her eggs, and went back to sea. Members of the local Logger Head Turtle Watch group, were on site to move the nest if need be above the high tide mark. A pod of doplhins kept me company as I walked back. This is what it is all about. Get down here and chase your dream while the buyers market is in effect!

My wife and I own Coastal Funding Corporation here in Myrtle Beach. She loves sea turtles. Do you know how she could join the Loggerhead watch group?

My name is Donna Davis and my family has owned a beach condo at Inlet Point for 25 years and before the end of 2009 I plan to move into the beach condo as my permanent residence.  I am very excited because I believe that beach is the most beautiful places I have ever been.

I am especially excited to join the Loggerhead Turtle Watch Group and help the "Turtle People" keep track of and protect the Turtle nests as I will be living within 100 yards of their nesting grounds on the beach dunes.

I have a BS degree in Biological Science (and a law degree), but I am far more interested in Marine Biology and I plan to go back to school (again) to take more courses on the subject at Coastal once I transition from my old life for the past 19 years in Los Angeles to my new life on the beach where I feel peace and serenity impossible to find in Los Angeles.

I am wondering why there are so few marked turtle nesting sites on the Inlet Point beach this year compared to prior years?  A fellow beach walker told me the nests already hatched, but my past experiences have been that the females don't lay their eggs on the dunes until June-August and most nests don't hatch until about 60 days later.  Are there fewer nests this year than last?

Please advise me on how I can join the Loggerhead Turtle Watch Group. Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Donna Davis
