With a name like Atlanta Dwellings TV you would think we would stay in Atlanta, right? Well, not so much. Last week we found ourselves in the southern most part of the United States in South Beach!! It was a fantastic trip that proved the importance of quality video is needed nationwide (or maybe even globally!)
Kevin Tomlinson and John Lennon were our tour guides for the week and what tour guides they were! I don't think anyone knows the South Beach area better than these two real estate gurus! We toured the best of the best condos such as Continuum North and South, Portifino and my personal favorite, Apagee.
Coming from Atlanta, it was a whole different real estate world down there. Neighborhoods for them are the buildings themselves. John Lennon of South Pointe Drive Realty gave us a great description on how these "neighborhoods" work. The bottom floors of most condos are seperated into one bedroom units creating more space for more condos. As you move up in floors, the space per unit increases thus increases the market price. This process continues all the way until you reach the penthouse which normally has several bedrooms and baths. Apparently, condos are built this way so the bank has more confidence in funding a multi-million dollar project by appealing to the waiter all the way up to the celebrity.
But then, there's Apagee. Throw everything I just said out the window. Apagee is a phenomenon of sorts in the condo world because it is all penthouse living! Instead of hundreds of units in the building there's only 67. That means high space and high dollar for every unit.
So what is high dollar for prime real estate in South Beach? I didn't know the answer to this question until I toured some of the amazing units. Nothing we shot was under $5.5 million!! In the world of South Beach that's the norm. The penthouse in Apagee (the true top floor penthouse) is a whopping $22 million! But don't tell the locals that's expensive. They know you're paying for the best. The best features, the best location and of course, the best views. No wonder the A-listers flock to South Beach...one step inside luxury and it's hard to leave.
