Great post.  I like what you say and I agree, set the example, to make sure you are doing the right thing for your client.

The other day I saw a post being Featured on how to behave on Active Rain. While I  appreciate those members,  who participated and were kind enough to give it a like or a praise, I am not in agreement.

I am very selective in who I will send referrals; in a nutshell, it is someone who has the same work ethic as I do, it does not matter to me if  that person is an Ambassador on Active Rain. It is not about the points., rather it is about who will deliver the high bar of customer service that do.  Over the past 15 plus years I have been on Active Rain, quite a few agents have received referrals from me.

Now let us talk about how to support other members:

  1.     Make a comment and make the comment be kind and supportive of the post. I do not mean the robo commenter who only wants to get points for their comments: rather, it is about the Lou Ludwig style, making the person feel good and help him out with a comment and putting a like to their post that is being supportive. (Just on a side note  I miss our friend Lou Ludwing he  was a gentleman’s gentlemen). This not only helps with SEO as well as for the stalkers who just read and watch, they see the character or the lack of character of a person.  In simple terms,  interact with genuine comments.
  2.     Team Player -  Quite frankly by not supporting or not commenting on other member’s post but preaching from the throne is not being a team player. Over the years,  I had  opportunities to send referrals to various parts of the country. If you cannot be supportive of other agents posts and interact with them, why would you pass on  a referral? I receive an email almost daily from the Berkshire Hathaway Network where an agent is looking for good agents in various markets.
  3.     I do not preach about politics, I choose to write about what I consider fun stuff such as cooking, pets, sports, reading and real estate. I get many inquiries and the person who reaches out to me tells me that feel like they know me. Hence the reason why they reached out to me. So not only am I a no-nonsense business style agent, I also have another side that I am happy to share.
  4.    There was an agent on this platform who had strength of character and said to me how funny it was that when I was in High School, I did not have as many ‘friends’ as I do now on this platform and the other social media platforms. My take on that is if I asked all these social media friends to help me out because I was in financial distress how many friends would I have left?  Something to think about.  I hold my friends close, I’m not on social media to be a collector of friends or an influencer.

I won’t drill the point home any longer; you get my message; only real people are in my inner circle those with morals and character.  Those of you who regularly read my post know that I recently closed my first transaction for the year. It  was an Active Rain Referral, and I am so grateful for the referral and the trust that was placed in me.

Those same people also know I am a no-nonsense Realtor in Beverly Hills who will look out for your client’s best interest. It is not about anything more than taking the best care of the clients. This formula works for me with referrals from both Active Rain and the sphere of influence of these clients. So, take the post written by the Active Rain Ambassador with a grain of salt. Talk is cheap actions speak louder than words. Genuine caring and supporting the community is the way to go at least in my book.
