03-6-22 Cavatini Recipe

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Hamm Homes

1 box curly pasta  (rotini)

1 big bottle of favorite sauce ( I use prego)
1 pound ground beef
1 8oz package shredded mozzarella cheese
1 8oz package shredded cheddar cheese
salt / onion powder/garlic salt to taste for ground beef

a-preheat oven to 350

b-boil pasta according to directions on box

c-while pasta is cooking brown and season hamburger, drain

d-spray casserole dish with PAM

e-strain pasta

f- pour some sauce in a casserole dish
add layer of pasta
add layer of ground beef
add layer of mozzarella
add layer of sauce
add layer of cheddar cheese

continue layering until you run out of ingredients.
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and melting into sauce on top of the dish.

You can make this saucey or on the dry side depending on how you like your pasta.  You can also add as much cheese as you like but the 8 oz is a good starting point unless you like it really cheesy.

HI Will... sounds a lot like a baked ziti recipe... except I prefer to make my own sauce and not used bottled as it usually has too much sugar and salt.

Will what a fun recipe, now I would have to modify it in two areas. One we do not use beef so it would have to be ground turkey or ground chicken.... and it has been decades since I bought Jar Sauce, I make about four Jar Sauces myself and use them as if I was an Italian:)Endre

This dish sounds amazing but since I am trying to avoid having a lot of carbs I wonder if I could make it without the pasta.
