Hello Roy Kelley,  i can remember when some straws were still paper, and then new plastic straws came in.

I do, too, Will! And they worked just fine (well, at least for awhile), so wonder why we felt the need for change in the first place??

I hope they come up with an environmentally favorable alternative to plastic straws.  I know I don't want to do without them altogether.   I don't know why restaurants and cafes can't simply switch to paper straws.  It's all we had when I was a kid.
