ActiveRain October Challenge: My Favorite Success Story

The October challenge for ActiveRain blogger members is to post a favorite blogging success story. I've been retired for several years, so it is difficult to select a single success story from the many relationships and transactions that made my retirement possible.

During the last twenty years of my real estate career my personal focus was on the sale of foreclosures. I referred listings and regular sales transactions to my several associates while I worked exclusively with foreclosure purchasers and the government agencies marketing foreclosures. So, my marketing challenge was to generate referrals to keep several associates busy and highly productive while attracting foreclosure purchasers that would allow me to close a high volume of transactions each year.

My real estate advertisements, my mailers and my blog posts focused primarily on the foreclosures sector. Everybody wants to find bargains and one of the benefits of foreclosures is the assumption by prospects that they are bargains. My blogs contained lists of available foreclosures and information on many of the specific properties in my market area. I could frequently use the same content for mailers or mass email distributions that I had in my blog posts.

My most productive success stories related to investor clients who worked with me to purchase many properties. The most satisfying transactions were with the home buyers who were purchasing their first home. I added to my production by also purchasing many properties for my own account, and reselling them after renovations. I always listed owned properties with one of my associates.

My stories relating to real estate sales are all from the past. So, I will talk about one of my favorite blogging success stories during my retirement.

Dolores and I read over a hundred books each year and I have posted blogs recommending hundreds of books. If you use the ActiveRain search field to search for Book Recommendation, Roy Kelley,  you will find a long list of book recommendations that I have posted.

My favorite success story related to blogs read by Wayne Martin. Wayne has frequently commented that I convinced him to read novels in addition to the non-fiction works that were his previous focus. During recent years, Wayne has reported that he has read many novels.

Roy, I love this post and am thrilled to see an entry from you in this month's challenge!

I also agree with Leanne Smith about the power of this platform - turning words into action because of others' trust in you. That's fantastic, Roy!

Hi Roy:

While I enjoyed your post from start to finish the success story about Wayne Martin stood out for me. Will be fun to see if he comments at some point. This is a great example of the influential power of blogging, in so many ways.

Jeff

Dear Roy,

Really great that you took advantage of a bad situation (many foreclosures) and made a lot of people a lot of money including yourself. Now you can follow your passions such as reading and taking pictures of the little natural gems around you that we all get to enjoy, when you post them.

Roy Kelley - During the years 2020 and 2021 read over 100 books of fiction and a few non-fiction. Not on that pace this year, but looking forward to when I can get back to that pace. As a result of your recommendations the choices as to authors was much easier. Thanks!

I too tried to find buyers for foreclosures as they had opportunities for people. It was rewarding when an owner occupant buyer would call and we would go searching for the right home
