The Beatlads, Birmingham's Beatles Tribute Band, will play tonight at Discovery UMC.
Anyone who attends is in for a treat.
Discovery UMC is located in Trace Crossings, across the street from Hoover, Alabama's Region's Park (formerly called the Hoover Met) which is the baseball stadium where the Birmingham Barons play. Every year at the 4th of July game they have a fabulous fireworks display. Over the years the church's parking lot has been a teriffic vantage point from which to watch the display. Many church members bring ice cream for the visitors and fellow church members to share. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
This year there will be a special treat as the Beatlads have agreed to come and entertain the crowd. Check out their website at www.thebeatlads.net.
I have heard the Beatlads on many occations and they are one of Birmingham's best kept secrets.
I know it's only the 3rd, not the 4th but the Barons are not playing tomorrow. So, come out tonight and enjoy the great music, ice cream and fireworks!
