Switching to a Seller's Market

By
Real Estate Agent with Irongate Inc. REALTORS SAL.2006006317

According to CNNMoney.com, we are "on the path to a housing rebound". However, the housing rebound is unique to each neighborhood. Stating a national housing market report is similar to having a national weather report! The weather is different in each city, and the housing market differs in each city as well.

The housing market report for Dayton, Ohio shows a promising future. The good news affects employees at Wright Patterson Air Force Base due to the addition of 3,800 jobs between now and 2011. The numbers are gradually but definitely switching to a seller's market. Yahoo Real Estate reports that the number of homes for sale nationwide in April 2008 was 93,000 less than in April 2007. Trulia.com states that in the Dayton, Ohio area in April 2008 - June 2008 4-bedroom home prices rose almost $20,000 on average since that time period the previous year!

We are starting to see a turn around here as well, I think the worst is over and we are getting back to a normal market again. Once the buyers are convinced we are at bottom they will get off the fence and things will really start to pick up.

Many agents I hear feel the worst is over...but a handful of us are still skeptical but yes real estate differs in each area!

Christina:  Appraisors are telling me that my market area has stabilized so maybe we are on the rebound.  After hitting bottom, there's no way but up!  I can't say if the worst is over or yet come but it's good news that your area is showing a promising future and mine has stabilized.

We are starting a bit but I really don't think it will be a turnaround quite yet.
