Home Stager with Real Estate Staging Association

I have been asked many times this week about a recent survey that has been circulating in the industry by an industry unknown. I have not had any answers until now and I wanted to share those with everyone. RESA attempted to make contact with the person that was circulating the survey for a few reasons: 1. To find out why they were doing a survey 2. if they were on the up and up offering any assistance as the trade association for professional stagers.  Our attempts to make contact were not returned. What we have been able to find out is the person doing the survey has now compiled the information in order to make the results of the survey available to stagers for a small fee of $27.00.  While everyone is free to pay for the results I understand there is a full report and a partial report and I think we have a copy of the partial report and while it is interesting RESA wanted to remind everyone that information on this level doesnt have to be paid for.

RESA has 3 surveys on our website that everyone is free to participate in. In addition when we have enough data we are more than happy to make it available to members and non members free of charge.

Collecting statistical data is extremely important for our industry but we can only collect information when you give it. Recently we released information on how fast homes were selling and the results were astonishing.

63 Vacant Single Family Homes not previously on the Market Sold on average of 40 days

27 Vacant Single Family Homes and previously on the market on average 120 days sold in 26 days after staging

33 Single-family lived-in homes that were not previously on the market before staging sold on average in 38 days.

11 Single-family lived-in homes that were previously on the market on average for 102 days sold on average 45 days after staging.

RESA would like to release information on a quarterly basis. Everyone in the industry will benefit from this information but we need your help to make this happen. Please be TRUE about your statistics. IN order for statistics to have integrity we need the good and the bad. So please be truthful.

Everyone is free to use this information in your marketing and websites for free.

Hi Shell -- this is a great post for the group Real World of Home Staging for Newbies as well -- would you please include this post there?

Great info -- statistics should fall under the umbrella of our trade organization; otherwise we are not united as an industry.

Thanks for all you do to be a trusted source to stage us forward!

Hi Shell,

I looked long and hard to find current stats for our industry! The interesting thing is nothing (other than the RESA stats) are real current. I found a lot of 2006-2007 stats. on the current buyer, but nothing for 2008, is this because we mid year?. Is RESA doing any other kind of statistics for the industry other than Day on Market?

xxoo,

Amber

Well, had I only known this, I'd have asked YOU to do the Fees survey!  It's a bit like comparing apples to oranges but at least it sort of gives us all an overview.

Where do you stand with Regional Meetings with Craig re: SIF vs. Kym's group vs. pur RESA?
