South Gulf Cove ~ Englewood Florida

Between Port Charlotte and Boca Grande, there is an old Florida-style waterfront community called South Gulf Cove that will take your breath away!

Only minutes away from the beautiful beaches of Gasparilla Island and Boca Grande, South Gulf Cove is the perfect place to call home.  You can enjoy all of Florida's favorite past times - boating, water skiing, kayaking, fishing, shelling - all so close to home!  It's not required that you be a beach lover to live here, however; South Gulf Cove is in close proximity to shopping, golf, galleries and every amenity that you could want.  With a private boat dock and ramp in place, South Gulf Cove residents can sail or motor their way into Charlotte Harbor and straight through to the Gulf of Mexico!  Even the tallest of sail boat masts can make it all the way out to the Gulf - there are no bridges to slow them down.

Years ago, South Gulf Cove was considered to be too far from town, but it was the sacrifice that residents gladly made to live in such a beautiful waterfront community.  Today's residents don't have to make that sacrifice though - new infrastructural development has brought retail in abundance to areas just minutes away from the community!  South Gulf Cove residents can now enjoy unique hometown boutiques and restaurants, entertainment such as museums and movie theaters, and have access to much needed facilities such as hospitals, schools and airports.

If you are one of the many people who chose Southwest Florida for its reputation with the golfers, you will not be disappointed with the areas surrounding South Gulf Cove.  Just in Englewood alone there are five different golf courses, three public and two private.  In neighboring communities such as Boca Grande, Placida and Port Charlotte, even more golf courses can be found.  Beautiful and challenging golf courses are in abundance in Southwest Florida!

South Gulf Cove is a deed restricted community with over 55 miles of navigable canals - most of which have bridge-free sailboat access to the harbor and the gulf.  All of the canals run into Interceptor Lagoon and then run into the Myakka River prior to reaching Charlotte Harbor, so there is quite a bit of boating and fishing to be had!  South Gulf Cove's canals comprise one-third of the Charlotte County canals!

South Gulf Cove houses 15,000 homes.  Out of those homes, 4,000 of them are waterfront.  All homes have gulf access, either from the community boat ramp and Yacht Club or from their own waterfront home.  All of the waterfront homes in the community have a natural shoreline and sea walls, and fisherman can fish for fresh or salt water fish from their own back yard.

Because South Gulf Cove was thought of as far away from town for so long, it has taken a little while for it to really catch on with the people who want to be close to a town.  Due to this process, South Gulf Cove retains a lot of natural beauty and vacant home sites that are waiting for you to build your dream home.  Most of the residents in South Gulf Cove are active participants in the community and work hard towards preservation of the natural surroundings and quality of life that has been enjoyed there for so long.  Although South Gulf Cove is an established and well-looked after community, many of the homes there are less than 10 years old, giving the community a mixture of old and new Florida that feels warm, clean and friendly.

You will find the price tags in South Gulf Cove run the full spectrum, but the more expensive properties will be closer to the lagoon.  There is a variety of home sizes and style, so there is something to suit many different lifestyles.  If you can't find precisely what you're looking for, simply purchase a vacant home site and let your creative influences give way to your dream home!  Future residents of this community will be happy to hear that all waterfront development is being actively monitored for the impact it will have on the ecology of the area.

If an upscale but casual Floridian lifestyle is what you've been looking for, then this is it for you!  As South Gulf Cove continues to gain popularity, property sales will pick up significantly, so don't wait around to check out this beautiful waterfront community.
