973 pounds !!! This is the second largest fish caught in the 49 year old tournament, amazingly it was the same team, back in 1986 that reeled in the largest - 1,062.5 pounds - what are the odds?
Kona is world famous for its fishing - mostly because of its Deep Blue waters, Aloha Spirit, Warm tropical weather, and the ability to pull in a fish of this size - 5 minutes out of the harbor. The waters drop off so fast here in Kona, you can be a few hundred yards off shore and be thousands of feet deep - even a mile deep in some areas.
Stay tuned because this tournament goes on until Friday - any more big ones and you will be the first to know.
