The Apple Store in Carlsbad opened at the Carlsbad ForumThis morning, I thought I would drop by the Grand Opening of Apple's new store at the Carlsbad Forum before heading out to show properties.

As I pulled into that large parking lot, I couldn't believe my eyes.  There was a line four-deep that stretched from one end of the Forum to (and around) the other.  There were young and old and every age in between.

Black-coated security guards maintained crowd control, and Jimbo'sCarlsbad Apple Store Market from around the corner offered crisp organic apples to those waiting in line.  Everyone seemed in good spirits, and I heard cheering in  the distance coming from within the store, which had not yet opened. Orange-shirted Apple employees were lined up ready to greet excited customers, one group at a time.

When asked, one of the security guards volunteered that the queue had started before 4 a.m.--and I was astounded.

Why?

Because most people I know use PC's--if only because Windows-compatibility is require for our San Diego MLS and some other real estate programs--and I thought most everyone already had an i-Pod:-)

The long lines were a definite surprise, but then I recall hearing some background buzz on CNBC this past week about Apple overtaking Google.

Thoughts?

Hi, How are you Roberta, I sure miss you around here. Check this out.  With the new dual core processor, with the Apple, you can now comfortably have both worlds at your finger tips. I wish I had NOT purchased another Tablet PC, because I was considering the Apple last Jan. This next time, there can be no doubt, I will becoming  a MAC user. I will have the windows ( note the lower case ascribed to windows because it will soon be a minor part of my computer and online experience) software on the other processor for MLS. I have downloaded Safari for the PC and it  is a cool browser. Talk to Jeff Turner, he switched a year last fall and loves it. Everyone I have spoken to loves it. Look out PC, you might be in for some real competition in the next few years.

You got to love the commercials of PS and Apple. I LOL everytime.

Roberta - well I missed the throngs of folks, thank goodness. No way would I stand in line like that. I was there just the other day and it looked like they were ready to go. Things are certainly changing as far as Apple is concerend. will be interesting to watch the developments over the next year.

William: So many places to be; so little time;-)  We have two Toshiba Tablets, but they are becoming too slow for my impatient soul. Love the iMac and use it almost exclusively. Safari is cool, but I use Firefox on the Mac--and everywhere else except for Sandicor. Grrr!!!

Jeff: I finally re-visited the Apple Store yesterday evening. It is every bit as wonderful as I dreamed.  They have a special right now for students (have tapped middle son) where a purchase of the MacBook entitles buyer to a free i-Touch.  Good until September 15.  Trying to find good excuses to pull the trigger and go for it:-)

Hi Roberta, Just checking back and noticed your reply to Jeff. Go for it. I love my iTouch so much. I can't think of one technology tool I like or enjoy more. You will never regret it. Go for it!

Roberta:

That is amazing.  Yet, Apple is becoming more and more popular, so it's not completely unbelievable.

Great blog!  Thanks for sharing.
