We use two different Multiple Listing Databases in our market areas. One from the Ann Arbor Board of REALTORS, and one that covers the Metro Detroit and Livingston county areas called Realcomp.
Starting now Realcomp is requiring listing agents to identify which homes are owned by lenders and which are privately owned, and which are offered for sale as short-sale listings.
The reason this is so important for purchasers is that short sales can be tremendously frustrating for home buyers. Often it has taken weeks to get a complete response from the lender involved.
We have become somewhat of an expert in helping buyers buy these homes but it is not an easy task.
We salute the Realcomp Board of Directors in this decision to formally require disclosure of this important information.
