Well, Austin is one place where the real estate market is holding it's own. Yep, it's slower than last year. It's going to pick up once school begins again though. I'm not an agent or a market analyzer but I do talk to builders and Realtors everyday and that's what they're telling me.
Despite a slower market, we still have a market. And everyday I get calls for information on staging a new home coming on the market.
Two weeks ago I staged a home in Tarrytown for $1.4 million. Last week I staged two townhomes in the $300's. Monday I'll be doing a consultation for a home in the $300k's. Tuesday or Wednesday I'll be staging a home in Lakeway for $500k. I got a call today to do go look at a $2 million property.
I was talking yesterday to a friend in the business and we were lamenting on how slow things are and that we need to kick our businesses into high gear. Then I started to think about what I've done, what I have on the books to do. And I remembered today to take a moment to be thankful that our market is so healthy. It didn't hurt that I turned off the news and the computer all day and just concentrated on the work I needed to finish. At the end of the day, I remembered all those jobs and started to add them up. And gees, I have a lot to be thankful for.
I'm grateful to be a part of such a diverse and growing city such as Austin. Housing is all over the place in terms of style, price and geographical location. Want a Tuscan on acreage? We've got it. Need a super modern high rise condo? Check. Craftsman? (my favorite) Got that too! Is your budget $150K or $4 million? We'll find you something.
All this diversity in the housing in Austin makes staging here fun and exciting everyday. No two projects are the same (okay, some of them are exactly the same) but you get what I'm saying.
So here's to my builders, sellers and Realtor's in Austin who entrust their staging to me. I am grateful to have come to a city so full of opportunity. Oh, and Happy 1st Austin Anniversary to me and my family. We moved to Austin just 12 months ago!
