Real Estate Agent with Kansas City Regional Homes

It appears this is focused just to Kansas and Missouri Re/Max Agents, but please continue to read if you are outside this area.   The information will apply to all Re/Max offices across the U.S.  I will say in advance, I am sure many of you already know about this feature, but many may not or it will serve as a reminder.

As a Realtor you are always looking for the best possible venue to advertise your open houses.  I have read many articles on the pros and cons of newspaper advertising.  The pros have not won me over at this time.  We are working hard to maintain a good web presence.  We like to focus our advertising dollars on the World Wide Web.

A couple of weekends ago, I was getting ready for an open house.  I usually just advertise the open house on the Heartland MLS and with signs.  We decided that we needed to do a little more for this week, so for this open house in Olathe  we decided to put an ad on Craigslist.  I didn't know where to go from here so I went and did a Google search for "Olathe Open Houses".  There were some hits but nothing that really listed any open houses in the area.  There was the one here and one there from individual Realtors advertising and posting their open houses, but not a complete list.

We had been digging into my Re/Max site to determine how we can customize it and we discovered the  search page for open houses that Re/Max has made available for thier agents on their sites. I listed my "Olathe Open House" here as well.  I didn't really put much more thought into it and had my open house.  Recently, I have been thinking more about the visiblity of this tool we have been given.

SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN USING THIS TOOL

  • If you don't promote it, only registered users are going to see it.
  • If Agents don't utilize the tool, there will only be YOUR open house to view. (there was only one house on the list in Olathe, Kansas between now and the end of the month)

Today it occured to me if I could get the link out to the public then it would make it available to the World Wide Web audience.  What better way to do this than to pool our resources on Active Rain.

This is a call out to all you RE/MAX OLATHE AGENTS - OVERLAND PARK AGENTS - AND ANY OTHER AGENTS IN THE KANSAS CITY METRO AREA.  If you are having an open house ADVERTISE IT ON YOUR SITE.  Add a link for OPEN HOUSES IN YOUR AREA ON YOUR ACTIVE RAIN PROFILE.

Hi Paul:  Since I specialize in estates and land I do not hold that many open houses.  That said, the few open houses that I have held recently have not had a lot of traffic and they were advertised in the local paper.  I'm with you - the web is the way to go.  Oh.. and nice customization of your blog.  It looks great.

Hi Maxine,

Yeah, the local paper seems to be kind of going the way of the dinosaur.  We, as Realtors, have to adapt to change or we will become fossils ourselves.

And, thanks for your kind words about the customization.  I have to blame it all on my wife.  She is simply a wiz when it comes to changing and adding things.

Paul.

That is a great tip !  Where on the RE/MAX site is it ?  Is it through your office's site ?  Or is it national ?

Christopher/Stephanie:

I guess I never thought about it not being all the same.  This is of course for Re/Max Midstates, but if you want to go look at my site you can see if it is like yours.  I can give you the instructions and even if it is not like it you might have something similar.  GO VISIT OPEN HOUSES IN OLATHE.
