October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer issues. I believe that Karen would wish all of us to wear a pink ribbon pin as a symbol to help raise breast cancer awareness.
As a supporter of breast cancer awareness, I have 500 or more plastic ribbon pins from the Susan G. Koeman Foundation - and yours free for the asking. Email me your name and mailing address information and I'll mail you one, or two or three.
Being a newer member to ActiveRain I did not have the privilege of knowing Karen George, but it is apparent the ActiveRain Community shares a deep loss of her recent passing.
I'm also including a website link where you can download free pink ribbons for your webpages.
Breast cancer facts: The National Breast Cancer Foundation estimates that each year, over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and over 40,000 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Approximately 1,700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year. If detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer exceeds 96%. Mammograms are among the best early detection methods, yet 13 million U.S. women 40 years of age or older have never had a mammogram.
God Bless.
