Speed Is More Than A Movie About a Hijacked Bus

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

SpeedIn popular movies of yesteryear one of the fun ones out there was the 1994 epic Speed.

It had popular actress Sandra Bullock in it and launched the career of athletically built or what most women on this forum would call "hottie" Keanu Reeves. He later went on to star in cyberadventures like the Matrix.

But in this movie Sandra plays the damsel in distress driving the bus that this mad bomber plans to blow up if the "Speed" ever drops below 50 mph.

Young cop Keanu has to work with her on this.

Alpha Romeo

In our own jobs daily we are called upon to act with "Speed."

Especially in today's day and age of instant communication. Whether we like it or not it seems everyone wants instant gratification.

This is not all that hard to accomodate these days with the tools at our disposal.

Cell phone, email, laptops, push email to Personal Digital Assistants like Blackberrys and Treos.

Ferrari

Speed also relates to our adapting to the world around us, and picking up on trends in various economic cycles, say like short sales and REOs.

What about our speed of our thought? If someone asks a question do you wait days to get back to them, or research the answer and get back to them promptly? Don't be afraid of picking up that phone or emailing or texting, depending on their way they want you to communicate.

Don't go crazy with speed and become a complete Crackberry reader and writer. It is easy to do. But do know you are in a world of speed nowadays. People EXPECT responsiveness. Set boundaries on your time but also still be fast. What happens if you don't grasp speed in today's world??

You will be knocked out out by the competition. Now, THINK FAST !!!

Gary, along with the speed of a timely reply is:  simply doing what you say you are going to do.  Then you don't have to worry about time.

I suspect that if agents in Ft. Worth are not well connected and "up to speed", they will be left in

Gary Woltal's dust.

Great post Gary - and I love the cars . . . time is of the essence in this business for sure, and the speed in our responses in all areas (returning calls, appointments, etc) is professional!

Gary... Once you have the *speed* down, you should be able to rely more on your dependablity.  Speed without accuracy, gets you no way too.

Gary, I can keep up with the speed of my clients and getting back to them, it's this tech stuff that I'm in the dust with.  That's ok, though, it's just not my specialty :)

William: Very good point. I think the inter-agent communication is very important.

Sharon: Great real estate term on this topic. Time is of the essence.

Valerie: Accuracy and dependability are very important.

Trey: An Alfa Romeo and a Ferrari. I had to take them out of my garage to get them waxed : )

Carole: The tech stuff, as fast as it keeps moving is work for all of us.

Gary, Instead of having a VW bug or HHR with real estate ads plastered all over the side, I think the fast yellow car would be a great marketing tool for my business.....

You are correct, that in today's times, people expect speedy responses to their inquires.  I just wish I could keep up with the technology.

Sondra: I think you'd be looking mighty fine behind the wheel of your fast yellow car. Who needs to worry about technology? You have the wheels. : )

Sherry: Hang in there. Some days get overwhelming for all of us. You can feel like you're on the hamster wheel some days, I know the feeling.

Gary- Timeliness is so important in this business. Somedays are more hectic and seem to go faster than others but I always make sure to at least take a rest stop periodically to refuel.

Gary - It's tough to catch up to new technology sometimes but I am learning to set time aside. My new blackberry has me baffled! But, each day i try to work on learning one new feature.

I think its something that has to be kept in balance but being responsive is huge.  Many agents lose potential clients because they do not return a phone call.  Everything is moving at lightning speed and there is so much to learn!!  I like my blackberry but I can see how it's easy to become a crackberry!
