In popular movies of yesteryear one of the fun ones out there was the 1994 epic Speed.
It had popular actress Sandra Bullock in it and launched the career of athletically built or what most women on this forum would call "hottie" Keanu Reeves. He later went on to star in cyberadventures like the Matrix.
But in this movie Sandra plays the damsel in distress driving the bus that this mad bomber plans to blow up if the "Speed" ever drops below 50 mph.
Young cop Keanu has to work with her on this.
In our own jobs daily we are called upon to act with "Speed."
Especially in today's day and age of instant communication. Whether we like it or not it seems everyone wants instant gratification.
This is not all that hard to accomodate these days with the tools at our disposal.
Cell phone, email, laptops, push email to Personal Digital Assistants like Blackberrys and Treos.
Speed also relates to our adapting to the world around us, and picking up on trends in various economic cycles, say like short sales and REOs.
What about our speed of our thought? If someone asks a question do you wait days to get back to them, or research the answer and get back to them promptly? Don't be afraid of picking up that phone or emailing or texting, depending on their way they want you to communicate.
Don't go crazy with speed and become a complete Crackberry reader and writer. It is easy to do. But do know you are in a world of speed nowadays. People EXPECT responsiveness. Set boundaries on your time but also still be fast. What happens if you don't grasp speed in today's world??
You will be knocked out out by the competition. Now, THINK FAST !!!
