The city responded to Sedgwick County request for discussions about arena redevelopment by repealing an ordinance that established a TIF district, voiding a construction agreement, etc. etc. so it can make nice to the county and have scheduled talks. Back to the drawing board... Mayor Brewer gave a speech worthy of any politician, but he's correct in expressing that not building a great downtown image and attractive features, can place Wichita on the slow track for drawing new interest and business. A dynamic, visionary well planned and executed downtown redevelopment initiative can have only positive on the overall economy and foster improvement in real estate markets for homes in Wichita, homes in Andover and surrounding areas.
