Stop Reacting!

Have you ever noticed how quickly people just react to situations? Most of the time we don't even think...we just automatically do or say whatever comes to our mind and often we regret that we didn't take the time to think about it first!

My pastor always gives a great illustration about people reacting. He compares rabbits and turtles. If you watch a rabbit, they just take off running when they think they are in danger and a lot of times you see them laying in the middle of the road because they just took off and ended up getting run over by a car. A turtle on the other hand has a completely different reaction. When it sees danger approaching, it shrinks back into it's shell and just waits for the danger to pass. There are not near as many turtles on the side of the road as there are rabbits!

We need to be more like the turtle. When we are facing difficulties we need to just stand still and realize that God is in control! He will help us through our storms and the danger that may be approaching us. We have to trust that He is always there and if we will learn to rely on Him instead of reacting to everything that comes our way, we will enjoy life full of peace which He desires to give us!

Well In believe the Lord works in Mysterious ways, and the calming effect a few pages of "The Word" every couple hours can guide us through a tough day as we " Lift your Name on High" as Pastor Claudio states(From Greenville now in Scottsdale AZ????)  Your tongue can be held a little harder each time... been there been sorry for it.

Thanks you for the post Angie.  We would probably be less inclined to be reactionary if we just slowed down and really listened.

Hi Angie -- there is a temperament to The Lord's way of handling our challenges, and there's a whole lot of truth in your post, but I'd add only that while God is steady and at hand at all times, we also have to take an action to ask Him to step in while our heads are in the shell wondering what to do.  Thanks for sharing the message.
