Is your seasonal traffic planning coming along well?
I have been writing about this using an example of a periodic pheonomenon (monthly horoscopes) this month, the typical peak traffic time for horoscope readers fell on a weekend, and on a holiday weekend as well. Traffic is almost allways lower during a holiday weekend, and also on weekends in general.
Although searches for Labor Day Quotes and Labor Day Jokes were quite high, the daily search volume for September Horoscopes never did reach the high point of last month's searches for August horoscopes.
What happened instead is that the searches were spread out over a longer period of time.
If you look at the graph below, you will see that the traffic spike for late August is less sharp and more spread out that the spike in late July. The increase in traffic began around August 17th versus July 26th. On August 24th it really started to climb and that lasted about 12 days versus only 5 days last month.
The September results produced three times more page views than for August and about 50 times more page views than for July.
Seasonal and periodic trends like this can look small when you first see them but if you build the articles and the value that your visitors seek, they can be a tremendous source of traffic, leads, and ultimately sales. I know for certain that Phoenix Arizona Real Estate sales suffer a bit from certain weather conditions that are highly seasonal.
I hope this series helps you get some ideas for your own seasonal and periodic trends in your business, in your location and in your other activities (hobbies, sports, etc.) so that you can begin to take advantage f some of these trends to grow your business.
Next Month will be October Horoscopes and I suspect we will see another month of record growth.
Thank you,
