Will we slow down for the HOLIDAYS???

By
Real Estate Agent with Elite Realty Group

I know everyone has been talking about how slow the market has been and I know in certain areas that may be the case - but in our town, business yet seems to be doing well - However, I know in some businesses that the holidays can affect your business -- either for the good or bad -- In the retail business, I have heard that it can either make or break you - How do you feel about how the holidays affect our business in the Real Estate world - Do you feel the business slows down in the  months before the New Year -- Please comment if you can - Thanks a lot and have a great day!!

Wow, I can't imagine how that could even be possible where I am because things are incredibly slow already :)

I think in the Chicago market things slow down because of the weather and moving in the slush Chicago winters is a nightmare to be avoided at all costs.  There is definitely a seasonal market in our area so we are certain to be even slower than usual.

I am glad to hear that things are going well in Tennessee! I really enjoy my trips out there (I horseshow in your area), love the friendly folks and I'm a big Titan and Volunteer fan. Here in central Washington, in my office, business is booming. I know that many agents in our area have a different perspective but our group is really rocking and rolling! Our listings are sitting on the market a bit longer and not many homes above $400,000 are moving but we are super busy with selling and closing! I am fortunate to have a fantastic broker who is very dedicated to us and I work with a true team. By putting our Team first instead of just looking out for ourselves and by staying on top of the continuing education classes we have all profitted! The broker sets the tone and one bad apple can spoil the barrel so keep that in mind during these times. Good luck and Happy Holidays!

I think it's a general mindset of all people in many different industries.  Everyone seems to get involved in the holiday parties, buying presents, mailing out cards, cooking snacks, visiting relatives, etc. that they forget about their Jobs/Life.  Real estate agents typically slow down because of these holiday activities, and potential home buyers and home sellers slow down their efforts for the same reasons.  That doesn't mean things have to slow dow.  My broker is having her best year in quite a while, and my year wasn't half bad either, even right now.
