The Bend Bulletin reports today that Bend/Deschutes County is ranked #4 in the nation in growth through the period of 2000 tthrough 2006. The area grew 29.3% in that time frame! As compared to other metro areas in Oregon which were 10% or less during the same time frame. This spells continued building and home sales. Prices may be depressed but demand will still be there.
Amazingly in Micropolitan areas (at least 10000 people but less than 50000) Prineville/Crook County is ranked #10 in the nation during the same 2000-2006 time frame! This area will still continue to grow at a similar rate as more than 4000 homes are scheduled to be built over the next 10-20 years or so. This area will be a great opportunity for families to gain more affordable housing and gain a small town feel. also the best thing is the many outdoor/country activities that are available. If you are an urbanite you probably won't be real happy but if you enjoy slowing down and raising your family in a close knit community, come to Prineville you will be happy.
