I have been asked to discount my price or price match to my competitors. Sorry, you have the wrong guy. Thats right, I won't price match. This isn't Wal-Mart. I refuse to discount my price for absolutely no reason. If you or your spouse are military (active duty, retired, reserve) I will definately discount your home inspection price. No discounts are given for my additional services. But I have had potential clients expect me to just drop my price because they found a cheaper price from my competition. Sorry, I have somthing of value. I do my reports on site generated by a computer. I take digital photos. I take my time with each and every client answering all of their questions. From what I have heard, my competition is not near as thorough as I am, nor do they answer questions as clearly as I do.
I do military discounts because in this area of heavy military population it's almost expected. The military is out there every day fighting for us, a discount on a home inspection is the least that I can do for the ones that call on me for their home inspection.
Do you discount your percentage just because some potential clients come to you and say that the RE office down the street will sell their house for 4% and they want you to match it or beat it. How are you supposed to market their house AND make money on the deal. Let's be honost, we are all in business to make money. Money so that we can put food on the table, and maybe take a vacation.
