Breaking news from McGregor Minnesota ~ Big Sandy Lodge and Resort is closing it's doors October 5Th this comes with an aching heart for the owners and the employee's of this wonderful destination on Big Sandy Lake. Big Sandy Lodge and Resort has 18 rooms and 53 potential homes/town homes that are currently in foreclosure at this point. My wife works or did work as the assistant general manager at the Lodge so with these hard times in Real Estate around the country it is really hitting home for us directly even more than it has been. This closing brings about a serious potential for a new owner to come in and buy the Lodge and all of the Real Estate for potentially a good deal if anyone knows of any investors please contact me I can get you in touch with the right people. Someone please, if the owners really desire to sell their resort, please buy this and preserve this beautiful piece of land. If the owners do not desire in their heart to sell it, I would still advise, if you are a fair honest person, to seek a fair investment with them in the property. Nothing is greater than having someone who has lived in this community as the resort owner. Then the owner knows the lake and they know the stories and all the charm from mythic to simple that make this glorious piece of land a sound advice prospective investment. Most people, all the people I have personally met in McGregor, and spending my summers at Lake Minnewawa, were always nice to me. It makes me greatful in my heart to have experienced this.

Yes - Big Sandy Lodge & Resort is most definitely open as stated above. It opened in 2010 and is doing from what I hear very well. Service is good food is great and the best thing of all it so on Big sandy lake. Stop in and see them. I will be there for opener fishing 2012, if you're there stop by and say hello.

I have stayed at this Resort for over 40 years and they have kept the integrity of the area very well. My family loves the area and we hope you do too!

It has been 4 years since we have been to the Lake since moving to Arizona, we are really excited to come back and visit our Lake friends and see what new changes the Lodge has made.

Another rustic place to stay is HillCrest Resort. Nothing fancy at all but the food is awesome and the bar is usually crazy fun with the locals and Lake home owners on weekends and holidays.
