Coldwell Banker Debuts iPhone Home Search

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with RE/MAX Professionals 94238

I found an article this morning about Coldwell Banker debuting their home search for the Apple iPhone. I read the article and promptly went to the website listed with my iPhone. I have some initial thoughts I will share here.

  • First thing I noticed is that it did not pull up all of the listings in a given zip code. For example I put in 98403 and one listing came back. Living in zip code 98403 I can guarantee that this way more than one listing for sale. 98446 only brought back 10 listings. I am not sure if this will improve in time or if it is a limitation of the site.
  • Second the site loaded very slowly compared to other sites on my iPhone. I tested using both the 3g and the slower network and page load was much slower than I would of liked to see for an application like this. The Trulia iPhone application works much quicker.
  • The formating of the site is not quite right. You have to slide left and right to see all of the page. This is most noticable after entering information when the screen does not go back the original size.

Inspite of these initial less that glowing observations I am thrilled to see brokerages getting on board with providing transparent data to potential clients. Being able to pull up a house simply and easily off my iPhone is something that I know I will be using a lot when showing properties to clients.

If you would like more information on the Coldwell Banker iPhone site you can find it here. I am not associated with Coldwell Banker. I am an independent real estate agent with a small agency in Tacoma. If you would like to read my review of the iPhone for real estate agents you can read it here.

I look forward to hearing what others have to say about this development.

Best wishes, Scott Cowan

I would have to say I think it is a perfect fit for Coldwell Banker and of course they will get better as it is fine tuned on the searches. I know in my area of the Emerald coast I have checked the listings and it does show all listings in our area, C21-REMAX-ERA everyones listings. You can see more info if your interested on www.ColdwellBankeriphone.com

Brandon- Thanks for commenting. I think it is great to see the industry begin to really support mobile platforms. They are not going away and more and more people (for example real estate buyers) are getting them. What a great way to provide information when and where the client wants it.

Best,

Scott

At least the screen is bigger so it's easier to see the data than with some other Smartphones.

Elizabeth- Since the screen can be pulled to enlarge the image on the display it is fantastic for real estate related searching. You can really get a good view of photos and text when looking at listings on the iPhone.

Best,

Scott
