Hi Amy,

 

We are moving to the Charlottesville area transferring from the Dept. of State to DOD.  We are keeping our options open and therefore will stay in C-ville for one year and then reassess the situation and decide to stay in C-ville or return to the foreign service.  Considering this trial period, we have been advised to rent instead of purchasing a home.

 

I am currently renting on a short term basis while looking for a home for the family who arrive in mid-May.  I am finding the search pretty overwhelming and was wondering if we could hire you as our agent.   The parameters I have been using to find a rental property are:

• 3 bedroom – 2 bath
• Approximately $1400 per month
• A safe neighborhood (security and area where speeding cars are not an issue)
• Near parks so that my wife can get out of the house with the kids
• Food shopping within 15 minutes
• A fenced in yard for our dog (50 lbs – medium sized dog)

 

I guess my questions are, can you help us and whether the parameters above are realistic?
