The town of Bernalillo

The Town of Bernalillo is rich in history and character.  The first Spanish Colonial settlers arrived in the Bernalillo area in the 1600's.  The Native Pueblo people of this area have settlements that date back 1000 years.  One of these settlements can be seen at the Coronado State Monument on the west side of the river.  Bernalillo has many annual events with the highlight (in my option) being the New Mexico Wine Festival at Bernalillo.

Many of the residents of Bernalillo have deep roots and extended family here.  Situated in the Rio Grande River  Valley it is similar in feel to Albuquerque's North and South Valleys, just 10 miles north of Albuquerque.  Bernalillo is a town that's changing as many new developments are here for everything from retail to affordable housing to luxury estate homes.  We're even starting to see some new condo/loft /retail/restaurant type properties near where the New Mexico Railrunner Train Station is in Bernalillo.  Quite a change from the days of the Spanish Conquistadors.

In Bernalillo you will find many old pueblo style homes, manufactured homes, affordable new home neighborhoods, gated luxury home neighborhoods, luxury casitas geared towards the second home market, and small farms.  Situated near Bernalillo is the Santa Ana Pueblo.  Santa Ana has developed some great facilities on their property including two spectacular Golf Courses, the Santa Ana Golf Club and the Twin Warriors Golf Club at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa.   The Hyatt is a AAA Four Diamond award-winning property with one of the best restaurants in New Mexico.

While Bernalillo is rapidly growing community, it has not lost its small town charm.   The old timers here all know each other and each others families.

Another nice thing about Bernalillo, Placitas, and North Rio Rancho is that to commute Santa Fe from these areas is not to difficult.
