So you want to move to South Florida? For every one person who hates it here you will find five more who love it. After all we do have it all; high property taxes, high insurance premiums, hurricanes and alligators, who could want anything more. Even with all theses nuisances millions of people live here and by some estimates hundreds more are moving in every day. The numbers don't lie; this is the best place to live in these United States.
I moved to South Florida from New York five years ago, at first I kept this crazy place at arms length but within a year I was in love. The first thing that will get you is our weather. I have completely forgotten that winter even exists. We have average temperatures in the mid seventies all year round. I was riding my motorcycle in shorts on Christmas day you're not going to be able to do that if you move to North Carolina.
Then we have the shopping, South Florida is a consumers paradise. From the outlets at Sawgrass Mills to the extravagance of The Shops at Bal Harbour, you will find things to buy here that aren't available any where else in the country. Most of our malls valet park and you can even have your car washed while you go shopping.
Where should I stop: the restaurants, beaches, the casinos, the architecture, the night life, the best private schools in the world, polo, or the Latin flavor that permeates everything we know as South Florida?
Before you decide to move anywhere you owe it to yourself to visit us here. When you come get away from the tourist spots. Drink a cup of Cuban coffee in Hialeah or sit outside and eat lunch at Georgiou's Bakery in Hollywood while you watch 10 million dollar boats sail by. Hike out into the everglades or fish for bass in Ft Lauderdale's canals. Then and only then will you find the South Florida that I have grown to love.
