Leisure World of Maryland is a private, age-restricted community located in Montgomery County, Maryland
The Community which is a 610 acre parcel of land is boarded on the north by Norbeck Rd, the west by Georgia Ave and south by Bel Pre Ave, Access is to this fenced in area is limited to residents and their guests by using any of the three manned gatehouses.
There are approximately 9,000 people residing in the community which is sub-divided into 30 housing associates which are referred to as Mutuals. Each mutual is managed by its residents and responsible for the care of their area, while the community counsel which is composed of Leisure World resident as well is responsible for the maintenance and care of the common amenities.
The community amenities (which is held in Trust for the benefit of the residents), includes an 18 hole golf course, two clubhouses, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, dining facilities, bus transportation (both inside of the community and to outside shopping centers), a medical center and pharmacy.
There is METRO bus service to the community and access to the METRO Subway station (Redline) can be had via these buses.
There are over 70 clubs/groups inside Leisure World to keep this active community involved,
